By enjoying a cup of tea with
friends this week you could be
raising valuable funds for the
Alzheimer's Society annual aware
ness appeal.

Groups, schools, businesses,
resthomes, shops and offices are
being encouraged to get together
and support the ``cuppa-for-a-
cause'' project.

To take part all you need to do
is make a donation _ generally a
gold coin per person _ to the
Alzheimer's Otago Oamaru office.

Alzheimer's Awareness Week
runs until Sunday.

Local carer and volunteer Colin
Murray said all funds raised would
be used for the Oamaru service.

"This will make life better for
all people affected by dementia,''
he said.

The society will have collectors
on Thames St for its appeal day on
Friday.

Mr Murray said it also had
several coffee vouchers to be won
from the Encore Coffee Bar at the
Oamaru Opera House.

Local community support officer

Debbie Melton said they had
received good feedback and had
``an excellent response from the
community''.

She said if anyone was available
to volunteer their time for the
appeal day they should call Pat
Taylor on 434-8263.
