The rider of a mobility scooter may have been oblivious to a three-car pile-up in Linwood yesterday which happened when the vehicles were overtaking him.
The crashes happened about 8.40am when a car overtook the mobility scooter as it headed towards the central city on Gloucester St near the intersection with Stanmore Rd.
A car following also overtook the mobility scooter, but the driver was focused on avoiding the scooter and drove into the back of the first vehicle. To make matters worse, a third car then rear-ended the second vehicle - and the mobility scooter rider, a man in his 50s, carried on his merry way.
Four police cars descended on the area but couldn't find the mobility scooter.
Constable Jason Brown said police were keen to talk to the man to help with the crash investigation.
He said the man may have been oblivious to the crash, but would likely have heard something. The front two cars were badly damaged, but the third car was able to be driven away from the scene.
The man, or anyone who knows him, should phone Constable Brown on 363 7451.
