Sydenham couple Kerryn Cox and Jay Jay Junior displayed their affection and a declaration of their love in front of the "world's largest Valentine's card".
Couples are being invited to declare their love for each other on what might become the world's largest Valentine's card.
Taking shape at The Hub Hornby shopping centre, the 4 metre high by 2 metre wide card designed by Christchurch artist Asheley Elizabeth was being created last week.
Customers were encouraged to write a message to their Valentine to be included in the card, which will be digitally scanned so it can be viewed online. "We wanted to do something unique that would involve our customers with a really strong Valentine's theme," Hub Hornby manager Jason Marsden said.
He searched on Google for cards that might have already set a world record.
"There doesn't seem to be anything of this scale around the world, so that's pretty neat," he said. "There was one big scroll, but nothing like a card."
Mr Marsden said the idea came from the Hub's "This is Big" catchphrase throughout the mall's current expansion.
