Ballsy fun for intrepid radio jocks

Simon Barnett and Gary McCormick put their family jewels on the line to trial a newly refitted flying fox "on behalf of the city" yesterday.

The 92.1 More FM radio hosts rode the Bishopdale Park flying fox "on air" about 8.15am, after reading about another man's painful saga the week before.

The Star had reported that a 30-year-old had to be rescued by firefighters after a ride on the flying fox went wrong last Tuesday morning.

A malfunction caused the flying fox seating structure to shift at the end of the line - trapping his "manhood" for about 20 minutes.

The incident prompted the city council to carry out work on all city flying foxes to prevent a repeat incident.

A bolt was added to connect the sleeves to the chain and prevent movement. This adjustment was made to the Bishopdale Park flying fox once it was reconstructed. Regardless, there was still much debate between who was to go first.

"I'd rather be a mouse intact than a man without, if you know what I mean," said McCormick.

Barnett took the reins and hit the ground on landing, closely followed by Gary yelling "I love it."

Needless to say, both came off smiling - and intact - and gave the flying fox the all clear.

"Well folks, we can tell you that the flying fox is good to go folks, it is good to go," Barnett said.
