Students at the school admire Caroline Evers-Swindell's gold medal
Weet-Bix could well be the secret behind the sporting successes of Olympic gold medallists Caroline and Georgina Evers-Swindell.
The 26-year-old twins, who won gold in the double sculls at the Athens Olympics in August this year, revealed their Weet-Bix ritual to an audience of young admirers at Opawa's Rudolf Steiner School recently.
The twins told their captive audience that three hours before each big race they eat a bowl of Weet-Bix each ? four to be exact, with sliced banana.
The sisters, who went to a Rudolf Steiner School in Hastings, received a warm welcome to the school where they spoke of their rowing career, Olympic experiences and passed around Caroline's gold medal.
The twins said the Athens Olympics had been an amazing experience, even though they had not stayed in the Olympic village.
"We were actually lucky we weren't in the village while competing because there were so many distractions," said Caroline.
The pair said they spent a sleepless night before the big race, wracked with nerves, but it all came together on the day.
Georgina said the fondest memory of their Olympic experience was not crossing the finishing line first, or even standing on the podium getting their medals. It was waking up the next morning and realising what they had achieved.
"We realised it wasn't a dream and that we both had our very own gold medals. It was a really cool feeling."
