Christchurch to benefit from RWC donations

The IRB will not make a monetary donation towards rebuilding rugby in Christchurch.

Rugby World Cup 2011 organisers have launched an appeal which will run locally and internationally throughout the cup, to help clubs and communities rebuild grounds and facilities after the earthquakes.

Tournament director Kit McConnell says the IRB has paid for a website, which will collect the donations.

"The IRB has paid for the full build of that site and we will pay any costs associated with the donations made, so 100% of the donations will go straight through to the recipient organisation," he says.

Mr McConnell says IRB has also engaged its international broadcast partners to carry messaging for the appeal.
