A police intersection campaign last month caught 119 Christchurch motorists breaking the law.
Senior sergeant Trevor Pullen said 57 people had been caught failing to stop at a stop sign, 44 had received traffic light breaches and 18 were found not giving way at give way signs during the November campaign.
More than half of the crashes in Christchurch last year were at intersections. There were six fatalities, 73 seriously injured people and 454 others with minor injuries.
Pullen said motorists should remember the intersections they drive through may be being taped by police, even outside the campaign period. Drivers failing to observe red lights are filmed, identified and letters sent out advising them.
On one recent day there were 17 breaches in one hour at the corner of Barbados St and Moorhouse Ave.
