A cow so big it would "make even Peter Jackson's King Kong look small" is how owner Stephen Godfrey describes this year's Halswell maize maze design.
Godfrey has designed and grown a maze annually for the past few years, and this year's effort is sure to attract visitors again.
The cow-shaped maze measures 125m tall, 70m wide and is about 100 times the size of a normal cow.
If a cow this size existed it would weigh around 50 tonnes, says Godfrey.
The maze, which is made out of close to a quarter of a million GE free maize (corn) seeds, is located on the corner of Halswell Junction Rd and Springs Rd and opened to the public on Wednesday.
This year's maze has around two kilometers of pathway. In previous seasons almost 50,000 people have visited.
The maze is open until early May. Then the maize will be cut down and fed to cows.
