Man attempts sexual assault | Canterbury News | Local News in Canterbury

Police are seeking information on a man who enticed a teenager into his car and tried to sexually assault her on Wednesday.

The incident happened in Hoon Hay as the 17-year-old was walking towards her school on Lyttelton St for an after-school practice about 5.30pm.

Police said the man, described as Indian with facial hair, drove her to the school but refused to let her out of the car until she kissed him.

He then tried to indecently assault the teenager, but she managed to unlock the door and get out, police said.

Anyone with information on the man or the incident was asked to phone the Christchurch South CIB on 363-7400.
