Domino Gouw enjoys the beach and fine weather in Christchurch
Sumner toddler Domino Gouw, 1, spent a couple of days down at the Christchurch suburb's beach with her mother and friends during the holidays.
Domino was making the most of a sunny spell, building sandcastles and covering herself in sand, much to her mother's annoyance.
Domino's mum, Joyce, said it was good to finally have the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.
At Scarborough playground, families enjoyed picnics, while toddlers swam in the paddling pool and played on the swings and slides.
Hundreds of number of Cantabarians had the same idea with a large crowd flocking to the beach this weekend as the temperatures hit the low thirties and people dared to believe summer was here at last.
Surf life saving events and the SummerTimes Festivals' Kite Day at New Brighton beach were other attractions for beachgoers at the weekend.
