Sweat and sore feet were quickly forgotten as thousands of City2Surfers enjoyed another super day on Sunday.
In perfect conditions, the fun run to QE II Park drew a similar turnout to the 15,000 of the previous two years.
"I think this year it went the smoothest it's ever gone - there were very few hiccups," said The Star City2Surf with Pump co-ordinator Aaron Vickery.
"It was great to keep our numbers up, and it was helped by the Heart Foundation 6km event from Porritt Park. This is definitely growing and it got a great turnout."
Mayor Bob Parker started the City2Surf in Cathedral Square, and Mr Vickery said he did a fantastic job getting the crowd involved at the start. The winner of the City2Surf Jetstar trip for two to Sydney was Rachael King. Mark Butcher won the $1000 cycle from Chain Reaction Cycles.
