Mother Nature pounded Christchurch again on December 23. The Star asked if people were planning on staying in Christchurch through 2012 and beyond, or had they had enough of the earthquakes.

Greg Piper, 37, chef, of Ilam, said he will be staying.

"The quakes haven't really put me off.

"I've got the usual damage but I'll live with that for a while."

Peter Veling, 63, retired, of St Albans.

"Yes, I'm staying, the quakes don't scare me to be honest.

"I was in Cashel Mall during the big one of February 22 and I've seen the worst of it.

"Everything that can come down has come down as far as I'm concerned."

Tim Brown, 24, engineer, of Sydenham, said he will be staying but only because he has too.

"I don't know how long I will stay for, I'm a bit fed up, most people are.

"I am thinking about moving on."

Maddi Allen, 15, student, of Rolleston.

"I think we'll be staying. My parents want to move away to Nelson or Aussie but it's a big decision.

"They are more keen to go now than ever before because of the last shakes, but there are so many things to consider."

Marissa Couch, 15, student, of Cashmere.

"After the February 22 earthquake my parents wanted to move away but I don't think they will given that so much time has passed.

"Australia is appealing, apparently there are few earthquakes over there."

Kacy Adams, 20, health keeper, of Richmond.

"Yes, I'll be staying in Christchurch, for the sole reason that after the February 22 earthquake I moved to Nelson.

"It didn't work out and because Christchurch has always been my home, I needed to come back.

"My home has slipped and is tilting but I can still live in it comfortably."

Rory Hei Hei, 46, machine operator, of Woolston, says he brought his family to Christchurch from the Bay of Islands six months ago to help with the rebuild.

"I have to stick here and finish the job I came down here for. "There is work here for many years, I'm involved in sewer repair and it's a huge job."

Joan Hall, retired, of Somerfield, says she is staying.

"I live in a retirement village and I can look after myself okay, as well as being looked after, so I'm not going anywhere.

"There's no damage where I am so I'm very comfortable."
